Toon Tuesday: Tall Elk the Mastodonoid Tribal Warrior (Rifts)

Sorry, again, for the delay in my weekly posts. Things are finally looking up with my Brother’s condition; we are connecting more and making the necessary changes to help him improve even further. I have had a bit more spare time since my hiatus, and am happy to get back to my Toon Tuesday posts. This is one of my stress relief outlets and it has been missed.

This is a character that I just had to write up after the last one, Snow Bison the Mastodonoid Animal Shaman. They are designed as Lifemates and to be played together, but this is not necessary. Both were very fun to write up, though I probably would have changed up the O.C.C.s if I owned a copy of Rifts Canada, but Rifts World Book 15: Spirit West will have to do for these native beasts. Again, I feel that the Mastodonoid race would have little use for tribal fetishes, though their Shamans would proudly continue to make them for their human tribesmen, and would not use them for fear of squandering the Spirit’s gifts; so he has none of the starting fetishes for a Tribal Warrior. I also scoured the text for information on the Tribal Warrior Powers listed under each animal totem, however, could not determine if the bonuses were all inclusive or a temporary boost due to transformation. Waving my magic DM wand, I’ve gone with transformation, as it would be a bit difficult for a human (originally the only race that could be a Tribal Warrior) to gore someone with tusks or antlers unless at least partially transformed.

Game: Palladium Books’ Rifts RPG
Books Needed: Rifts Ultimate Edition, Rifts World Book 30: D-Bees of North America and Rifts World Book 15: Spirit West (hereby refered to as SW).
Recommended Setting: Incredibly unsuited to any hot or warm climates (no deserts or tropics), but well suited to any arctic environments. Due to their simple nature, they are better suited to a traveling party that does not spend much time in large towns or cities, but very suited to an indigenous style campaign. Would be best set in a party involving their Lifemate, though this can be altered. Mastodonoids are ridiculously powerful and should not be paired with average adventuring parties.

Rifts Game Master Kit: A Worthy Pack of Resources for DM’s

image

Palladium Book’s Rifts RPG is a huge game! With a massive collection of World, Dimension, Conversion, and Core Books or otherwise, that’s a lot for a DM to remember, much less sift through to find each and every thing you need for the perfect encounter when your players inevitably destroy the campaign you had planned!

To make it easier on us poor, unappreciated, table riding DMs, Palladium had released a “Rifts Game Master’s Kit” (which they also offer for their Palladium Fantasy RPG) as a digital supplement available for purchase through Drivethru RPG at a very reasonable $5.00. This packet is also obtained for free for all “Megaversal Ambassadors” who apply for this title directly through Palladium Books.

So what’s included? In 50 pages, the crew over at Palladium tried to include the most helpful lists, charts, tables, and indexs they could put together. Here’s the breakdown:

▪ Game Master Reference Sheet
▪ Rifts Combat Matrix
▪ Rifts Skill List
▪ Alphabetized Spell List
▪ Various ‘Borg Worksheets
▪ Rifts Mini-Posters
▪ Rifts Character Sheets
▪ Rifts GM Logs
▪ Rifts Sample Characters

Breachworld Kickstarter: Less Than 70 Hours to Go! Plus Q&A!

image

The Breachworld logo.

Set to reach completion on April 6, Jason Richards Publishing’s Breachworld RPG has soared to nearly 10000 in funding so far. The proud and ecstatic backers have unlocked many digital stretch goals, which are available for most pledge levels. These digital goods are supplemental folios which entail more than just stats and a brief description to help players, DMs, and the role playing experience altogether (see the Q&A section below for more information.) The creator, Jason, has also made these folios a “pay what you want” feature, making them quite affordable for any backer (and free for any Superior Supporter pledge levels!) Unlocked so far are:

▪ Complete Player Race Folio
▪ Complete Creature Folio
▪ Hollow Mage Playable Race Folio
▪ Minotaur Playable Race Folio
▪ Dinosaur Creature Folio
▪ Destination: Smokey Folio
▪ NPC Folio

More information about Hardhats and other creatures/races is only available in the folios!

At 10000, we will have unlocked a full, point by point plot adventure supplement, making it even easier to jump in to this brand new RPG. Being contemplated for the 10500 goal are a Mythical Creatures Folio, another Destination Folio, and possibly releasing the Martial Artist for early playtesting. Jason also hints at a nice upgrade for the physical books; a wrap around cover with Kickstarter exclusive art! This is just theorized, of course, though he is pouring all of the funds from this project into the product itself, whether it be the artwork or the professional editing of the folios, so an upgraded book doesn’t seem too farfetched.
