Toon Tuesday: Madd Maxine the Human Roadganger (RIFTS)

This is a character that had been written up with a friend, hopefully she’ll be able to play it soon in my upcoming Australia campaign. Madd Maxine here will also be in a party with Tall Boy the Grackle Tooth Burster, and Chester Emmett M.D. the Human Body Fixer, as well as another character (A Septumbran Witch Wolf Headhunter), whom I haven’t gotten the chance to type up to post yet. It’s gonna be BONZA, mate!

It was great fun delving back into World Book 19: Australia, and I’m still cross with Palladium Books for never releasing the promised Australia 2 & 3 books. But I’ll work with the amazing one that I do have; it’s probably my second favorite area setting! And the book has got some great tables and details! I especially enjoyed the “Weapon Condition and Modification” tables, which I utilized in this write up. If you don’t go in for those kinds of things, no worries, you can just erase that last addition and nothing else about the weapon changes!

Game: Palladium Books’ Rifts RPG
Books Needed: Rifts Ultimate Edition, Rifts Sourcebook 07: The Black Market, and Rifts World book 19: Australia
Recommended Setting: Australian Outback, within a couple days drive from Perth. Best suited surrounded by other PCs or NPCs in a gang of sorts. Could be a villainous PC/campaign.

Roadganger OCC

A person with a wild mohawk and mismatched leather armor rides a pieced together motorcycle, while wielding a chainsaw in one hand in a style reminiscent of the Mad Max film/world. The bike is jagged, with knives on the handles and severed doll heads strapped to it, and the armor is skintight and with vehicle parts attached.

Toon Tuesday: Chester Emmett, (M.D., PhD.) the Body Fixer

Hey! It’s been a couple years, huh? So much has happened since the last time I posted, lots of big life changes (2 kids now, getting divorced, moving state soon…gonna be busy) I probably won’t be posting on a schedule, but I still adore writing up characters. And, hey, I’ve got a new domain name for the blog! Time to print up some business cards, heh.

Though, this isn’t technically a character I wrote… but I did help! My new partner (who usually plays the grim and gritty World of Darkness and is probably going to introduce me to it soon) has never played Rifts before, and so when I went to visit him, I brought the books with me and showed him the ropes! I think he was trying to write a “boring” character, but he had a lot of fun and we laughed quite a bit. It’s amazing what you can learn about someone when you write up a character together!

Game: Palladium Books’ Rifts RPG
Books Needed: Rifts Ultimate Edition
Recommended Setting: Any starting level, low powered campaign – this character is a skill character NOT a kill character. The running joke with Chester here is that he only has one business card left and was just on his way to Kinko’s to get more when he was sucked into some conflict or another, and then forcibly conscripted into a band of mercenaries because, hey, they needed a doctor.

Capture

A human Body Fixer stands among a host of test tube bound mutant humanoids in a laboratory, preparing for surgery…or dissection.

Toon Tuesday: Redcloak the Freeborn Dog-Boy Wilderness Scout (Rifts)

After the past three months, we’ve finally settled into some semblance of a routine with our children – that is to say, I’ve been getting more sleep at least. So I’ve pieced this together in what little spare time I have before allowing myself to pass out at an hour that a younger (childless) me would scoff at.

I was inspired to write up another Dog-Boy by Brian Fields, AZ_Rune on Twitter, who hit 200 followers and randomly selected two of their followers for a free art piece to celebrate. I was one of those lucky winners, and I decided to go back to where it all began; my first ever RPG experience with a Freeborn (Malamute) Dog-Boy in Rifts. She was called Cinder, and that campaign and character are still spoken of around the table by my groups. Featured below is the phenomenal piece Brian worked up for me, and you can find more of his artwork on his deviantArt. Check out that badass “head count” on her shoulder and the Triax wrench! Please note that this character post is not the character in the artwork, merely inspired by it.

This particular character also has a disability: Deafness. As a result, her language skills have been altered to suit, with spoken language taking a -20% penalty, and Sign Language “replacing” the skill percentage of their native language. I’ve also raised base skill percentages regarding her other senses, like smell (+30%) and psychic tracking (+10%), to allow for their increased usage/proficiencies. I’ve also deigned to lower Prowl by -10%, as she can’t as easily judge how noisy she is, and a -3 to Perception Rolls (but +3 regarding smell.)

Game: Palladium Books’ Rifts RPG
Books Needed: Rifts Ultimate Edition and Rifts World Book 13: Lone Star.
Recommended Setting: Well suited to any starting to lower-mid level adventuring group that is not of CS persuasion. Very useful in traveling, wilderness type skillsets.
