Toon Tuesday: Helen the Human Vagabond (Rifts)

I think that Vagabonds are drastically underestimated as an O.C.C.; with the variety of skills they can learn and their natural Eyeball a Fella technique, they open up a lot of role playing opportunities. Sadly, many players go for the M.D.C. creatures and the super skilled classes, but I can’t count how many times a Vagabond would have proven useful to my groups. I also decided to give this character a pretty hefty vulnerability: congenital heart problems. This runs in my own family, so I do actually know the symptoms and such, it can be very debilitating, even fatal, and should not be taken lightly (I certainly don’t.)

Game: Palladium Books’ Rifts RPG
Books Needed: Rifts Ultimate Edition.
Recommended Setting: Any average adventuring party, also well suited to a gang lifestyle or unsavory quests involving theft.

Toon Tuesday: Grindgear the Goblin Tinkerer (Warcraft)

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Warcraft RPG character, and I so enjoyed the in depth look at Gobbies during the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion. So I scribbled up one of the special “Tinker” classes, because Goblin Engineering may not always be useful, but it will always result in a rather entertaining boom. I also recently upgraded to 4E for Dungeons and Dragons, which I know many gamers did not enjoy, but many still did. I feel it’s better organized that previous editions, and the art is certainly a welcome change; still trying it out, so we’ll see how it affects future characters (this character is not affected as Warcraft RPG is compatible with 3.5E not 4E.)

Game: White Wolf Publishing’s Warcraft RPG
Books Needed: World of Warcraft RPG Core Book (First Edition), and Dungeons and Dragons Player’s Handbook (3.5E).
Recommended Setting: Any starting adventure group of either faction.

Toon Tuesday: Cotton the Human Cyber-Knight (Rifts)

Paladins (because let’s face it, Cyber-Knights are basically Paladins without the faith and blessings) catch a lot of flak from the RPG community, but I just honestly love them. “Your choices are so limited as a lawful good/paladin type character!” Not really, in fact I think it offers more opportunities to do some seriously memorable role playing than neutral or evil aligned characters. Plus I just love playing the goodly protector. I’m also starting something fun for future Toon Tuesdays: flavortext. Like you would find at the bottom of many a trading card, it will be a short (one to three sentences max) bit of dialog either by or about the character, just to add some more dimension. It can be found as a caption to the picture always included for the write up. Enjoy!

EDIT 10/2014: I have played this character in a campaign and found her to be a lot of fun! Her abilities and skills play well as both a leader and a supporting role.

Game: Palladium Books’ Rifts RPG
Books Needed: Rifts Ultimate Edition, though you could use Rifts Coalition Wars 4: Cyber-Knights, the stat information is out of date and much more clearly presented in the RUE.
Recommended Setting: Any good aligned starting adventuring party, accustomed to travel and all but the most extreme of environments.
