High Level Toon Tuesday: Captain Reed the Bayou Ursine River Pirate (Rifts)

My first completed write up for a Rifts NPC villain (I had been working on an ancient dragon, but scrapped it); I wanted to add a little flavour to it with a unique race/class combination. I’ve seen plenty of Pirate O.C.C.s, but River Pirates (or as they are coined in the text, “brown water brigands”) are an overlooked niche – one I plan to fill in with a full write up for the crew and operation that this one runs. This particular pirate is named after two amazing lady pirates of history, too! A bit of a note, this character’s skills were leveled normally according to the text as opposed to my specialized House Rules, for ease of use and possible conversion, and I took some liberties with level increases for S.D.C., as there wasn’t one listed for this race (given their high starting S.D.C. and higher hit die, I had to assume this would be higher than average.)

EDIT 10/2014: I have decided to start adding Quick Stats at the bottom of the workup, they are modeled on stats given for NPCs throughout the books. This will be included for each Rifts character from this point forward (I may go back and add it to all previous characters, but that would take awhile.)

EDIT 11/2014: I wrote up her crew and operations (along with some gear, adventure ideas, and general setup), but neglected to add it in here: Groups, Troupes, and Crews: Harpoon’s Folly.

Game: Palladium Books’ Rifts RPG
Books Needed: Rifts Ultimate Edition, Rifts World Book 30: D-Bees of North America, Rifts Sourcebook 04: Coalition Navy, and also some items borrowed from Kitsune’s Palladium Web Page (fan made, Palladium Books O.C.C.s/items/spells/etc.)
Recommended Setting: Best suited as an NPC villain or contact, but also a possible PC in a higher level, evil aligned campaign (especially if the other party members are a part of her crew.) Could be converted to the Captain of a more sea-faring venture, though more suited to long river raiding.

Toon Tuesday: Jules the Human Power Armour Pilot (Rifts)

I was expecting a lot more work to go into a Robot Pilot O.C.C., if I’m being honest, but the skill selection was a breeze and so was equipment (besides the power armour, of course.) I left out specific missile selection, as that would be tailored to fit your mission, but they are pictured for ease of access, and I also skipped the few cybernetic augmentations as this character (and as the text states) is confident enough in their armour without it. Backstory is a bit vague and loose, but that’s to make it easier to play with and customize. Enjoy!

Game: Palladium Books’ Rifts RPG
Books Needed: Rifts Ultimate Edition.
Recommended Setting: Any starting level adventuring party or mercenary group, though as former CS military, it may be best to avoid anti Coalition campaigns. Also, if travel is going to be frequent, make sure someone has a vehicle that can haul power armour.

High Level Toon Tuesday: Elder Briarhorn the Tauren Healer/Druid of the Wild (Warcraft)

Oh man, I accidentally scheduled this for the wrong day of the week! Sorry about that, folks, I hope you can enjoy a Toon Tuesday on a Wednesday…

While I have not yet played the Warcraft RPG, I did play World of Warcraft for a number of years. I didn’t even start off with a Tauren Druid; I originally played a Troll Mage on my Husband’s account until we realized that we each needed our own account so we could raid together. I created Briarhorn, took a long, long time to raise him to max level (restoration isn’t ideal for leveling, and this was before dual specialization), and quickly became the main tank healer in our progression guild (and then a fairly well known healer on our server). I related to that big, gentle cow in many ways; he was a large part of my life (social and otherwise), and while I don’t play the game anymore, every time I cracked open the RPG I felt compelled to write him up. It’s about time that I actually did, and as a prestige class like he deserves. I hope you enjoy him as much as I did, because he is exactly the type of character I love and play best.

Game: White Wolf Publishing’s Warcraft RPG

Recommended Setting: As a mentor type, high level NPC or as a the healer in a high level campaign. Can work equally well with Horde, Alliance, or neutral factions.
